"They lived through a war, you know? They were so much stronger, and they didn't have the same sense of entitlement that we sometimes see now. There's so much to admire about that generation," she says, highlighting the contrast between the hardships faced by her mother's era and the relative comforts of modern life.

India's upcoming book, "Entertaining: with a Side of Chaos," is a celebration of her unique hosting style, which blends formality with a touch of chaos. She shares how her mother's influence shaped her respect for mealtimes, even if the level of formality has evolved over the generations.
"My mother's background was very formal, and we had a strict routine of four meals a day. But today, I'm all about practicality. I want people to know that entertaining doesn't have to be perfect. It's about creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere," India explains.

India's family life is a bustling hub of activity, with five grown children and a menagerie of pets. Her anecdotes about hosting, including the infamous cat food pâté and the dachshund's culinary adventure, showcase a household that's full of life and laughter.
"Chaos is a given when you have a house full of kids and animals. But it's all part of the fun," she says with a laugh.
